The Challenge
Migrating to Magento 2
Plumbing Sales wanted to migrate their Magento 1.9.x website to Magento 2.3.x. Their old website was running on Magento 1 Community Edition which was scheduled to stop security and bug support patches in June 2020. They needed an expert Magento developer for this major upgrade to ensure the integrity of all their content and data during the migration. They also needed custom eCommerce site design and development to make it convenient for tradies and consumers when shopping for plumbing products online.
The Solution
Code and Theme Migration for Magento
We assessed the previous Magento 1 website and identified existing extensions that could be updated for the migration to Magento 2.3.x. We also included new extensions to support additional functions requested by the client. Other unique functions that could not be supported by the current Magento 2 extension catalog were instead custom-developed by our expert web developers.
The migration was also an opportunity for the Plumbing Sales team to upgrade their site design, so we provided custom design and full custom development that enhanced usability, speed, and customer experience for both desktop and mobile.
Customized and Custom-developed Extensions for Magento 2
We developed and configured extensions for an array of B2B (trade) and B2C (consumer) functions to enhance the Plumbing Sales online shopping experience, including:
- Advanced search – immediately displayed a variety of suggestions in all relevant categories
- Product attachments – displayed downloadable product sheets
- Quantity-based tier pricing – displayed discounts for bulk purchases
- GST toggle – allowed users to include or exclude GST in product prices
- Multiple wishlists – enabled a more convenient price comparison, quoting, and checkout process
- Postcode checker and shipping options – displayed clear shipping availability and options for customers
- Store Manager – facilitated a more efficient catalog management for the store
We also developed and created user guides and held in-person training activities that ensured a smooth handover of the new website to the Plumbing Sales team.
